Why do I need a mentor?

Most successful people have had a great mentor or mentors help them achieve their goals.  A mentor can be a valuable asset to help you achieve your goals in a more efficient way. They will encourage you to take action towards forwarding your skills, talents and career. It is important to have someone to bounce ideas off of and ask for feedback on a particular topic or issue.  A mentor will assist you in getting the results you want without wasting time, which might occur through trial and error. They also serve as a coach to help keep you committed and motivated to reaching your dreams.

Who needs a mentor?

"A man is not an island."   All successful people have elicited the help of others to achieve their goals and dreams.  Most successful people have had a great mentor or mentors help them achieve their goals.  Having a mentor is for anyone who wants to achieve their goals and dreams in a more efficient manner.  It is great to have someone to bounce ideas off of and ask for feedback on a particular topic or issue.

How do I choose a mentor?

You can find successful people in your company or industry, who have proven success and have achieved similar goals, and ask them to mentor you.  This could be a person who has won many sales awards or a great sales manager who has coached you on sales calls.  You can have multiple people serve as a mentor to you. I usually look for top sales performers who consistently sell and I "model" or replicate their strategies. It is important to identify someone you feel qualified and "Ask for Help."  You will find that many people like to share their talents and teach others.  If they do not, than they are probably not someone you want as a mentor or coach.
